There will be a field limit

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Team Time Trials are a competition. The classic 26.3 mile race course is set on beautiful River Road and Hwy 306. Two person teams begin 30 seconds from the next team and then race 26.3 miles against the clock for awards in various gender, age, and ability categories. And YES we have a TANDEM division too! Teams will be seed started according to their supplied predicted average mph for the course. Last year's winner(s) and any course record holders are given the honor of being seeded last. The time of your 2nd teammate to cross the finish line is recorded.  The top times in each category will be recognized.

  • The first 250 teams to register by October 20th are in.

  • Online registration fees are $40 per racer ($80 per team). There is no-mail in registration for this event.

  • Team Captain will register both team members online at the same time. Captain will need to know:

BOTH teammate's email address, phone numbers, emergency contact name/numbers, t-shirt sizes, and date of birth

You must also BOTH agree on the predicted mph average over the 26.3 mile course you will be racing. If you raced last year, be sure and look at last year's results when making this prediction.

CLICK here to see last year's 2010  TTT Results by OVERALL TIMES (quick pdf)

  • Click here to see last year's 2010 TTT OVERALL RESULTS with awards for mph TIME PREDICTIONS.  Long Download but a MUST READ if you raced last year. This will help you to make an accurate mph prediction when you register this year.

  • Online registration is scheduled to close Thursday, October 20th, 2011 @ midnight --- or sooner if the field limit is met.

  • Each team member entered online is guaranteed a collector’s commemorative t-shirt ($15 value) AND an admission ticket to Wurstfest (an $8 value).

  • We do not anticipate post registrations for this event but if so, walkup registrations will have no guarantee of Wurstfest tickets or t-shirts. In addition, registration fee for a walkup team entry is $90.

  • All entrants will be required to sign an event specific liability release form at all packet pickups; therefore, you cannot pick up packets for your partner unless you have their Tour de Gruene TTT signed liability release form. You may download the form from a link given earlier on this page.

  • Children under 18 (minors) must be registered by their adult legal guardian,  submit a “Minor release form” signed by their legal guardian, who must also be present on event day. You must email tdgregistration@satx.rr.com for that release form.
  • All entrants must wear an ANSI, Snell or ASTM approved securely fastened helmet whenever they are on their bike at any time.

  • Entrants do not need any racing license to participate.

  • Tour de Gruene awards are to be presented to top times in each division. Quantity of prizes awarded per category is dependant upon total entries per category.

  • Your start times will be posted on this website several days prior to the event date. More about that to come.

  • There are no refunds at any time once a team has registered (as online registration ceases when field limits are met).  HOWEVER team member substitutions may be made (see guidelines below).

  • No-Shows on event day will be listed as such in the results unless we are notified that your team is unable to compete.

Partner Substitutions info received by October 20th?

  • Changing partners may place you into a different age, gender, and/or ability category.  If your partner exchange form is received by midnight, October 20th, we will take the necessary steps to transfer your team into the new age, gender and/or ability category. There is a $10 administrative change fee to exchange a partner.  The "new" partner will be responsible for that fee at packet pickup. Cash only.

Partner Substitutions after October 20th?

  • After October 20th, receipt of partner substitution that changes a team out of the original age/gender/ability division for which it had registered places the "altered" team into the "Ride for Time" Division and their results will not be part of any specific age/gender/ability division competition.  However --- they WILL compete in the overall results.  There is a $10 change fee to exchange a partner. The "new" partner will be responsible for that fee at packet pickup. Cash only.
  • OR, you may choose to ride the course alone and your time will be recorded as a SOLO hardship in the Ride For Time Division.  Please notify us of this decision so officials will score accordingly.

To be eligible for Eddie Merckx style recognition, both riders must ride Merckx style.

  • Five-time Tour de France champion Eddie Merckx rode in the Tour de Gruene Time Trials with teammate Lance Armstrong on Sunday, Nov. 10, 1996, in Gruene, Texas. Merckx joined Armstrong, who was recovering from cancer treatments, in the 26-mile time trial in central Texas. Merckx and Armstrong wore standard helmets, used standard wheels, and a standard kit of shorts and a jersey. We would like to note racers in our results who race without aero equipment. No aero helmets, suits, wheels, tear shaped frame tubes, aero bars. You will find a place on the registration form to note if this special recognition applies to your team.

We will also be giving recognition to anyone who races "RETRO" Style.

  • This would be any team utilizing steel frame and fork bikes; OR, single speed bikes.  You will find a place on the registration form to make note if this special designation applies to your team.

Families who play together.... stay together.

  • You will find a place on the registration form to be recognized if you are racing with another member of your immediate family!!
