2008 ITT RESULTS!

Time Trials are a competition. In our Individual Time Trial contestants are started 30 seconds apart and will race against the clock for awards in 22 different categories. The fastest times in each category win the prizes. The categories are set up by age and ability level. Racing age is defined as your age on December 31 of 2008.  For example, if you are 35 now, but will turn 36 by 12-31-2008, your “racing” age is 36.

These are general descriptions of the categories of racing you could enter:
Übergruppe:  “means “over” everyone - “fastest.” It is equivalent to USAC Pro 1, 2 USAT Pro. 200-400 miles a week of riding, 6 to 7 days a week at a fast pace unless active recovery is required.
Blitzgruppe:  means “lightning” or “faster”. It is equivalent to USAC Cat 3 or 4 and USAT Elite. 100-250 miles a week of riding, 4 to 6 days a week at a variety of up tempo paces.
Schnellgruppe: means “fast .“ It is equivalent to USAC Cat 4 or 5 and USAT Age Graded. 50 – 150 miles a week of riding, 2 to 5 days a week riding at a variety of paces.  Beginners should consider this level

Below is a general guide for the categories of the Tour de Gruene in terms of times and average speed in elapsed time and miles per hour (mph).  Generally optimum age for cycling performance is from 20-30 years of age so you can add a minute to your time for every 5 years older or younger you are than the upper and lower limit of optimum cycling age.  26.6 mile distance divided by 60 minutes (time) = mph. Please note this is merely a guide to target your training effort to be competitive and help the event continue to be fun and fair for all that enter.
